Mexico thrash Honduras in Gold Cup opener

Mexico got their Concacaf Gold Cup crusade off to the ideal beginning on Sunday with a 4-0 win over Honduras as they hope to move past an unfortunate Countries Association execution that saw mentor Diego Cocca fired after only four months in control.

A redid Mexican group, drove by break mentor Jaime Lozano, scored under a moment into the game through midfielder Luis Romo, who then headed home from a corner in the 22nd moment to make it 2-0.

Orbelin Pineda scored six minutes after the break to put the game far off before midfielder Luis Chavez took the ball from safeguard Devron Garcia to score Mexico's fourth objective in the 64th moment.

"We did a generally excellent work, every one of the players are keen on what the mentor [Lozano] proposes, we must be certain, this is the initial step of a long way," Pineda said.

The adjustment of the Mexican group's attitude left the two fans and players fulfilled, with Lozano saying there is a lot of opportunity to get better.

"I'm extremely glad for the confidence in me from the players, individuals and the chiefs. This is a fresh start," Lozano said.

"This ... appears to be a mysterious thing. It seems like everything can pivot in three days."

The success leaves Mexico top of Gathering B. They face second-put Haiti on Thursday while Honduras take on Qatar.
