PALO, Leyte, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) in Eastern Visayas is confident that the observance of All Souls Day and All Saints Day here will be orderly and peaceful, the PNP-8 regional director, Chief Supt. Arnold Revilla told local media.
He said the entire Eastern Visayas police force is “100 percent ready to secure public cemeteries and other public places during” those days.
Revilla said his command has already established police assistance centers (PACs) all over the region in coordination with the Philippine Army and other enforcement agencies, barangay and barangay tanods, non-government and religious organizations, and other concerned groups in the area to assist the traveling public, maintain peace and order in cemeteries and nearby environs.
He also said that in every cemetery throughout the region, especially in highly populated areas in big towns and cities, a PAC has been put up to keep order in the area. These centers, said Revilla, ensures police visibility in the area as a deterrent to criminality and untoward incidents.
Revilla also said that over 4,000 policemen have been deployed all over Eastern Visayas from October 31 to November 2.
Aside from cemeteries, policemen will also be assigned in places where there is a high convergence of people especially in strategic areas, terminals, churches, airports and other public places to prevent the occurrence of criminal acts and any untoward incidents during All Souls and All Saints days.
Revilla said the entire police force in the Eastern Visayas has been put on heightened alert status and are now on guard and ready to respond to any eventuality that may happen between Tuesday and November 2.
