Kevin Stefanski gives up Browns play-calling duties

Image
Kevin Stefanski Hands Over Browns Play-Calling Duties to Offensive Coordinator Ken Dorsey: A New Era for Cleveland’s Offense In a significant shift for the Cleveland Browns, head coach Kevin Stefanski has decided to relinquish his play-calling responsibilities, passing them on to recently hired offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey. This move marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of the Browns’ offense, signaling Stefanski’s willingness to adapt in hopes of igniting the team's underwhelming performance on that side of the ball. The Decision to Step Back Since taking over as head coach in 2020, Stefanski has called offensive plays for the Browns. Under his leadership, Cleveland’s offense initially flourished, particularly during the 2020 season when the team made a rare playoff appearance, defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Wild Card round. Stefanski's offensive schemes, emphasizing a run-heavy attack and play-action passes, played a key role in maximizing the talents of qu...

Cindy Anthony Testifies: Pool Too High for Caylee Anthony to Reach

Image
The Casey Anthony trial continued Saturday with Cindy Anthony taking the witness stand and testifying that the above-ground family pool w Cindy Anthony, who was emotional throughout her testimony, said she last saw her granddaughter alive on June 16, 2008. The day before, on Father's Day, she had taken Caylee to visit the toddler’s great grandfather at a nursing home. Later that day, the grandmother swam with Caylee in the family pool. Cindy Anthony said there was a ladder leading up to the pool. She said 2-year-old Caylee knew how to climb the ladder up to the pool but that the ladder was removed when they were done swimming. The description of the pool is important because the defense for 25-year-old Casey Anthony claims that Caylee was never missing but instead had died on June 16, 2008, after accidentally drowning in the pool. "Caylee Anthony died on June 16, 2008, when she drowned in her family's swimming pool. You're going to hear that Caylee lov...

Paper: Terrelle Pryor being investigated by Ohio State, NCAA

Image
The playing career of Terrelle Pryor at Ohio State could be in doubt, according to a story published by The Columbus Dispatch . Pryor, who already will serve a five-game suspension at the start of his senior season after selling memorabilia in exchange for cash and improper benefits, is being probed by both the NCAA and Ohio State. Multiple people told the The Dispatch the investigation is focused on whether the Buckeyes quarterback received automobiles and other benefits not included in the original suspension. The Dispatch reported earlier this year that Pryor was stopped for traffic violations three times in the past three years while driving cars that were owned by a car salesman or a Columbus used-car dealer for whom the salesman worked. Citing federal law, the school would not comment on whether Pryor's activities are currently being examined. "The university continues to work with the NCAA as they investigate matters involving our football program, and...

Evelyn Lozada: New 'Basketball Wives' Features Lozada, Drama and Little Else

Image
If you have ever read anything that I have written before, I apologize. I tend to get a bit snooty when it comes to my entertainment. This includes TV shows as well s sporting events. I have covered everything from Dancing with the Stars to Cricket. While I am still trying to grasp the finer workings of Cricket, I have a pretty good grasp on quality television. I have after all been watching since I was able to open my eyes. I have tried to watch Basketball Wives, a show on loosely tied to anything basketball. Its biggest star, Evelyn Lozada is marrying Chad Ochocinco, a wide receiver for crying out loud. My biggest problem with the show is substance. I love me some drama, I really do. If there was a subscription needed to watch Maury Povich , I would fork over whatever the cost. The drama in Basketball Wives is just to over blown. I can't remotely relate to their plights, and I am really trying people. The third season premiered on Monday evening. Once again I was...

Palin a no-show for fans wanting Gettysburg view

Image
Palin was a no-show for several hundred supporters, celebrity-watchers and media who turned out in hopes of seeing her at the Civil War battlefield of Gettysburg on Monday. She and her entourage arrived at a hotel outside the town late in the day and spoke to a smaller group of people gathered there. The Republican vice presidential candidate in 2008 is on a tour of historic sites on the East Coast, renewing speculation she might be testing the waters for a presidential bid in 2012. Palin remained noncommittal on whether she will run. "I honestly don't know," the former Alaska governor said, CBS reported on its website. There is one thing she does know but is not telling: her itinerary. That has left supporters as well as reporters guessing where she will pop up next. On Sunday, Palin entered Washington on the back of a Harley-Davidson in a war veterans' motorcycle parade that is part of the Memorial Day weekend observance in the capital. Rumors, t...

LisaRaye McCoy reps for the 'Single Ladies'

Image
One thing you need to know about LisaRaye McCoy: She keeps it real. Whether it's discussing the break-up of her marriage to the Premier of the Turks and Caicos Islands, her desire to find a man of means or even the rumored beef on the set of her new show "Single Ladies" with co-star Stacey Dash, the actress doesn't hold back. For example, she has no problem admitting that producers wanted a younger face when casting her character Keisha Green on the new VH1 romantic comedy series. "My friend, Stacy A. Littlejohn, wrote the character with me in mind," McCoy said. "When she sold it and partnered up with VH1 and Queen Latifah's production company, Flavor Unit Entertainment, they wanted a younger demographic." That is, until producers took a meeting with the stunning 40-something McCoy. The actress added that she's passionate about the character and the show, which she says is a mix of "Sex in the City" and "Girlfrie...

Obama Pays Memorial Day Tribute to Fallen American Heroes at National Cemetery

Image
President Obama honored fallen American veterans on Memorial Day by participating in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknowns, followed by a service at the Arlington National Cemetery. Obama said in his Memorial Day address that this day was to memorialize patriots who "gave of themselves until they had nothing more to give." "Our nation owes a debt to its fallen heroes that we can never fully repay. But we can honor their sacrifice, and we must. We must honor it in our own lives by holding their memories close to our hearts, and heeding the example they set," he told a crowd at the cemetery's Memorial Amphitheater. "And we must honor it as a nation by keeping our sacred trust with all who wear America’s uniform, and the families who love them; by never giving up the search for those who’ve gone missing under our country’s flag or are held as prisoners of war; by serving our patriots as well as they serve us – from the moment they...

Betty Broderick Picture and News

Image
Betty Broderick was a San Diego socialite who murdered her ex-husband and his new wife in 1989. Her name is back in the news this week because she was interviewed by Oprah back in 1992 and the episode is now considered one of the talk show maven's most memorable. Here's what happened back in 1989: Broderick was married to Daniel T. Broderick, and then he left her for his 28-year-old paralegal, Linda Kolkena Broderick. When he left Betty, she spray painted the walls of his home and drove her car through his front door. She ultimately crept in his bedroom on a Sunday morning in 1989 and shot Daniel and Linda to death. In the early '90s, during her trial, she claimed she was the victim, because she was left for a younger woman. The contentious case was apparently split up into two camps, the Betty-bashers and Betty-boosters. Her story has been made into several TV movies and books, and was quite drama-filled. She was denied parole in early 2010 and wi...

Rep. Weiner: Twitter Account Was Hacked

Image
A weekend controversy involving a lewd photo posted on the Twitter account of Rep. Anthony Weiner is a "prank" caused by a hacker, Weiner told CNN on Monday. Weiner, a New York Democrat who is one of the leading liberal voices in the House, blamed the photo on a hacker who got control of his social networking accounts."Look, this is a prank and not a terribly creative one," Weiner told CNN in an exclusive interview Monday, adding: "I was hacked. It happens to people. You move on."However, Weiner's spokesman, Dave Arnold, said the congressman has retained an attorney to look into the situation."We've retained counsel to explore the proper next steps and to advise us on what civil or criminal actions should be taken," Arnold said in a statement. "This was a prank. We are loath to treat it as more, but we are relying on professional advice."The Capitol Police and FBI told CNN they're not currently investigating.Th...

In Gettysburg, post-jog Palin greets supporters

Image
GETTYSBURG - It's too hot in central Pennsylvania, according to Sarah Palin, but while it wore out those on her bus tour, she snuck in a jog as reporters and supporters searched for her whereabouts. The Palin-crazed media and faithful fans found her late Monday afternoon, as she and her family paused their northbound road trip to rest up at a hotel on the outskirts of Gettysburg. National reporters trailed the Palins throughout the day, during their stops at the National Archives, Mount Vernon and Fort McHenry. When her bus was spotted at a hotel minutes from the historic battlefield that she was expected to visit today, reporters flocked and fans posed for pictures next to the Constitution-emblazoned motorcoach. Rumors swirled that she would be heading back out later that evening, and with a group gathered watching one hotel exit, she drew stunned looks as she and her daughter Piper walked up from behind the crowd and said hello. From my report for tomorrow's P-...

Photography graduate catches the eye of NBC

Image
One phone book, a newspaper, 20 shopping bags, 15 paper grocery bags and three thrift-store dresses brought UCF student Erin Gordon to the attention of NBC. Gordon, having graduated only weeks ago with a degree in photography, never imagined a class assignment would end up in the NBC window display at the famous Rockefeller Center in New York City — but it did. Gordon explains that she made and photographed dresses for an assignment on being socially conscious for her Image, Culture and Society class. Her goal was to make something people would actually want to wear, yet be entirely "green" in the process. Gordon purchased the dresses she used as bases from a thrift shop and revamped them in her unique way, making each one entirely recyclable. "It makes me feel accomplished and validated as an artist, and elated that I'm actually being taken seriously so young," Gordon said. What caught NBC's eye was not just the flirty styles and chic designs,...

How to choose the correct Air Conditioner

Image
A: Portable air conditioners are great for use in smaller, enclosed areas like bedrooms or offices where local cooling is required. By choosing spot cooling, consumers can save on energy and operation costs. These units are very efficient and reliable, and they have the benefit of mobility. Many units are set on casters allow the units to be easily rolled from room to room as needed. Portable units remove hot air from the room and must be vented out of a window so the hot air is released. The window exhaust kit included with Haier models makes this process quick and simple. Check out this video to learn how to install a portable AC unit such as a Commercial Cool unit. Window air conditioners. The biggest difference between portable and window units is that window air conditioners are installed and secured in window frames and are meant to be kept there for the entire season. They are stationary units but can be removed from windows at any time to be stored after the seaso...

Sports Illustrated: At Least 28 Ohio State Players Traded, Sold Memorabilia

Image
COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Sports Illustrated investigation released on Monday night alleged that since 2002, at least 28 Ohio State football players traded or sold their memorabilia. Sources told the magazine that players have been trading memorabilia, including items bearing former coach Jim Tressel's signature, since at least his second season at Ohio State. Tressel resigned on Monday morning amid an NCAA investigation into the coach's conduct. The magazine reported that Tressel violated NCAA bylaw 10.1, unethical conduct, three times.  The first when he failed to act when he was tipped off in April 2010 about six of his players selling their memorabilia for tattoos.  The second was when he signed his standard form of compliance that declared that he knew of no violations.  The third violation was in December when he was not forthcoming with school officials about his knowledge in the investigation. Robert Rose, who played defensive end for Tressel told Sports Illustrated...

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series: Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte - Race Results

Image
Kevin Harvick took his No. 29 Budweiser/Armed Forces Chevrolet to victory lane in a wild finish of the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. It was the third win of the season for the Richard Childress Racing driver and propelled him to second in the standings, just 36 markers out of the top spot. It is the 17th win of his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series career. Harvick started 28th in the 43-car field for the scheduled 400-lap/600-mile race. In the early laps, his Gil Martin-led team overcame handling issues to steadily move Harvick up in the running order. As is usually the case in the season’s longest race, the drama built as the laps ran down and fuel mileage came to the surface as potentially being an influence in the finish. When the caution flag flew for the final time on lap 397 forcing the race into an overtime green-white-checkered scenario, Harvick was in ninth place. But the fuel situation forced some of the leaders down pit road while others, including rac...

Era of free content is over says Fairfax chief

Image
THE era of free online content is over, according to Fairfax Media chief executive Greg Hywood, who indicated Fairfax would begin charging users to access parts of its website when the six-month free period for its new Sydney Morning Herald and Age iPad apps expires at the end of this year. But Mr Hywood indicated Fairfax was unlikely to lock up a large part of its content behind a solid pay wall, suggesting a "freemium" model that was partly free and partly paid was the likely outcome. "It's not in our interests to massively shrink our audiences,'' Mr Hywood said. "The company is nearing 180 years (old) and for 180 years people have paid for content,'' he said, launching the new apps this morning. "There was a period where that print content was translated online and was for free. "Publishers around the world are making the judgement that that period is essentially over,'' he said. "But it...

Axis Deer Spotted On Big Island

Image
HONOLULU -- Axis deer have been confirmed in several areas on the Big Island. The State Department of Land and Natural Resources said it is teaming up with several other groups to come up with a plan to remove the animals that were spotted in Kohala, Ka'u, Kona and Mauna Kea.Agricultural officials are concerned about the animals because they can cause serious damage not only to agriculture, but also to native Hawaiian forests. Fences in place on the big island are not high enough to keep deer out, officials said.“We are now expanding our surveys of areas where deer have been reported, and are developing a response and removal plan,” said William J. Aila, DLNR chairperson. “We consider this a serious problem with far-reaching economic and environmental impacts to the agriculture industry and native ecosystems on the island."There are more than 12,000 deer in upcountry Maui that have caused extensive damage, Aila said.Aila said DLNR has enlisted the help of Departm...

Eve Weighs in on Lil' Kim and Nicki Minaj Feud: 'It's Not a Good Look'

Image
Everyone from Foxy Brown to 50 Cent has shared an opinion, and now rapper Eve — who was once rumored to have bad blood with Lil' Kim herself — has opened up on the subject. In an interview with HipHopDX, Eve insisted that the whole thing seemed unnecessary: I need her to stop. If I was Kim's friend, I'd be like, yo. Because she's Kim, period. So she never has to feed. She shouldn't ... It's bad. It's not a good look. If I was her friend, I'd tell her, yo, just come back bigger and better. The best way to get at people is to do you better than you've ever done you. So that's it. Essentially, Eve's repeating what a lot of Kim fans believe: She's great enough that she doesn't need all this negative press. Eve also voiced her support for Nicki Minaj, saying, "You know, it's definitely a nice group of females that's out representing, but because I come from hip-hop, I need more females in hip-hop ... Nicki defin...

Waco madam's life recalled

Image
TEMPLE, Texas — Before her life came to a violent end somewhere between Temple and Belton in August 1890, Cora McMahan had developed a salacious reputation everywhere she lived. She was found by a passer-by who reported that McMahan was locked in an embrace with her love interest, notorious outlaw Pick Wiseman. She had been shot once with a shotgun at close range. Wiseman was shot 27 times. Days earlier he was found not guilty in a murder case in which he was accused of gunning down a lawman. The man who found the couple said their bodies were in a buggy, its horses tied to a fencepost. Stories of the killings, which went unsolved, were printed in newspapers throughout the nation. In those accounts, McMahan was identified as a prostitute. A new book, "The Oldest Profession in Texas: Waco's Legal Red Light District," written by James Plyant and Sherri Knight, reveals that McMahan was much more than a simple prostitute: she was a woman of influence in th...

Harvick pulls off another late-lap win

Image
In a wild finish that kept the tone of the day’s premier races, Harvick steered through the carnage and conserved enough of his fuel to make it to the checkered flag in Sunday night’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. After a race in which he’d complained about his car to his crew, had often been far from contention, and was so worried about running out of fuel that he got a push from a teammate during the final caution, Harvick suddenly found himself heading to Victory Lane. It was a wild ending in which drivers crashed in Turn 1 of the green-white-checkered finish, then watched as no caution came out, and both Kasey Kahne and Dale Earnhardt Jr. ran out of fuel while on the lead. Earnhardt held the lead entering the final turn, but slowed with the checkered flag in sight. Harvick saw his opening and took it. He slipped past Earnhardt’s car and stormed across the finish line, taking the improbable victory. And that’s just fine with him. As the ...

Sarah Palin roars off into mysterious bus tour

Image
For sheer mastery of celebrity theater, Sarah Palin cannot be beat. Palin, the former governor of Alaska, let the anticipation build for hours Sunday in the Pentagon's North Parking Lot, where thousands of bikers (and their rumbling Harleys) had gathered for the annual Rolling Thunder rally ahead of Memorial Day. And then, suddenly, there she was: Palin, with her husband, Todd, and the rest of the family. Wearing matching black Harley-Davidson helmets, they rode motorcycles toward the front of the procession through a crush of cameramen, photographers, reporters and leather-clad bikers, all jostling for a peek at the woman who might run for president. A traditional political appearance it was not. She did not make any public remarks or shake hands with dignitaries. There was no news release accompanying her visit. And after the short ride to the National Mall - she rode on the back of a volunteer's bike - she sped off in a black sport utility vehicle to points un...

Young women need calcium, iron, Vitamin D

Image
Younger women in particular need to make sure they are consuming enough calcium, vitamin D and iron, and an adequate intake of calories to support energy and nutritional needs for their bodies to function properly. Women ages 20 to 50 should have 1,200 mg of calcium each day to build peak bone mass and prevent osteoporosis, a disease in which bone density decreases and leads to weak bones and future fractures. Good sources of calcium are low-fat dairy products, salmon, tofu, vegetables such as broccoli, legumes (peas and beans) and seeds and nuts. You might want to take a supplement, but if you do, split your doses so that you take 600 mg in the morning and the remaining 600 mg at night. Vitamin D also is important for bone strength and I recommend that all women up to age 60 take 800 to 1000 IU (international units) per day. Women also need an adequate iron intake because they lose iron through menstruation. Iron is typically found in many animal products as we...

Pics found 30 years ago are M. Monroe

Image
LOS ANGELES, May 29 (UPI) -- CNN says it was given permission to publish early photographs of Marilyn Monroe a New York collector purchased at a garage sale 30 years ago for $2. Photographer Anton Fury told the U.S. cable news broadcaster he found original negatives of photographs of Monroe, and her friend, actress Jayne Mansfield, at a garage sale three decades ago. CNN said it would publish some of the pictures, possibly taken in the 1950s, ahead of what would have been Monroe's 85th birthday June 1. Fury said he purchased the negatives in Parsippany, N.J., and after identifying Monroe, he put the 70 negatives in a box and stored them. "I took it home, put them on the lightboard with a loupe and, needless to say, these are Marilyn," Fury said of his find. "That was probably my greatest garage sale discovery ever." The photographs were taken in the Hollywood area and show Monroe modelling swimming suits and short pants. "The only thing we'...

Champions League final: Barcelona 3 Manchester United 1

Image
IT WAS billed as the Perfect Final. And we weren’t let down. Barcelona were simply brilliant as they shattered Sir Alex Ferguson’s dream of winning the European Cup for the third time. Inspired by the brilliant Lionel Messi, the Catalans blew Fergie’s side away to conquer Europe for the fourth time. And Bob Paisley will stand alone as the only British boss to land a hat-trick of victories as long as Pep Guardiola has players like Messi and Xavi at his disposal. It was thought United were the only ones who might be able to stop the team rated by many as the greatest club side ever. The Old Trafford men were also desperate to avenge their defeat by Guardiola’s side in the 2009 final. But Barca swept them aside with a masterclass of thrilling football at the scene of their first European Cup triumph in 1992. Pedro opened the scoring only for Wayne Rooney to level with a superb goal before half-time. However, Barcelona moved up a gear after the break and long-range strikes from ...

Jose Padilha Teams with 'Gran Torino' Writer for 'Tri-Border' Thriller

Image
The Brazilian filmmaker is already slated to direct the long-gestating reboot of RoboCop , but now Jose Padilha has another project for his future slate as well. Heat Vision reports the Elite Squad director is set to helm a new thriller from Gran Torino writer Nick Schenk. Called Tri-Border , the film, being shot in English, takes place in the infamous lawless South American zone trisected by Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay, where competing crime organizations and law enforcement agencies fight for the upper hand. Surprisingly, this has nothing to do with Kathryn Bigelow's Triple Frontier , that deals with the same setting. The story in Tri-Border follows a Boston-based DEA agent who is unwillingly sent to Paraguay for having busted the son of an US senator during a drug raid. The script will explore the ins-and-outs of the different crime organizations and law enforcement agencies in the tri-border zone, as the agent strives to understand how the place works i...

UFC 130: Bark was bigger than Rampage's bite

Image
In the main event at Ultimate Fighting Championship 130 in Las Vegas, there was another victory and another excuse by former light-heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson after his win over Matt “The Hammer” Hamill. In the bout, Rampage clearly won all three rounds, but his performance was average at best. "I was a 5 out of 10 (on a scale)," Jackson said after his bout. Jackson also revealed he fought with a fractured hand. Once again Jackson's bark was bigger than his bite. With back-to-back subpar fights, the question remains, "Is he worthy of a title shot against light-heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones?" With Jackson revealing his injury the decision to fight Jones next my not be in the cards for him. In the first round, Hamill started with leg kicks. He was taking a page from Forrest Griffin, who took Rampage's title after repeatedly leg-kicking him for five rounds. But on this night,  Jackson looked much sharper with his box...
