Putin of Russia promised "unequivocal activities" early Saturday as a strained deadlock unfurled in the southern Russian city of Rostov-on-Wear, where "an equipped resistance" by the frank soldier of fortune mogul Yevgeny V. Prigozhin gave no indication of being controlled. In a five-minute location to the country, Mr. Putin called the defiance by Mr. Prigozhin — who prior Saturday promised to lead his hired fighter troops to Moscow — "a betray of our nation and our kin."
